(One week since I came to Japan!!)

So, what have I done?

  • Found a school in Shinjuku to study at for a month or two (starting when I get back from the snow on the 18th)
  • Met up with a high school friend in Shibuya (Angelique)
  • Gone out with my flatmate David and some of his friends & listened to them speaking Jap together.
  • Met my other flatmates (2 chinese girls, a jap/canadian girl and a korean and melbourne guy)
  • Lots of wandering around the city... And the finding of the cheapest groceries nearby :P...
  • Lots of study!!
  • and visited a church on Sunday (v. American and Anglican/formal service) will try a couple more next week.
With David and others we went out to one of the main night life centres Roppongi. We went to this place with booths where you eat and drink and chat (and the Japanese smoke too - 'cause it's "fashionable")... Which is what you notice here... Japanese girls (I don't know about guys... maybe they're the same?) are extremely fashion conscious... Cigarettes come in pink packets with diamontes on them, every face is caked (like sooo soo much) with make up and the clothing is... Well, over the top! Needless to say I doubt I'm gonna turn Japanese anytime soon!

So far the cold is refreshing... It's a dry cold so it doesn't penetrate too much, and it's in the positive single digits which is easily managable... I'm wondering about the snow though, but if you're moving I guess it should be ok...

Up, up, up and away!!

Ooooh passive smoking... bad. Yes, it is Japan, very materialistic.

Yays for finding a church, yea it's harder with a more formal church but if the teaching is good?

Stay warm!

Nice to hear what you're up to!
Hope you continue to stay busy and learn stuff and enjoy yourself. :)
Any more luck with the church hunting?

Yuck, smoking. I don't know why people still smoke if they know it's bad for them?

Your name was in the paper today! *waves flag for honours result*

Yay Leachy is alive! Hmm interesting you mentioned the girls being fashion conscious, was just chatting about that today with my friend on mission in Japan, he said they kinda work to shop, shop to live and live to work...

Yay for cross-cultural communication! Look after yourself (mentally as well as physically, being in a new culture can get rather draining) At least there's a melbournian! :)
