Seen at the Dendy at CQ on Friday this film really is something else. I enjoyed the movie and read the book over the weekend and enjoyed that also. Watching the MO scene in the movie was a little gross and extended (eewww naked old fleshy people!!) but reading it, and knowing it was coming up (Oh yeah, thanks for the warning Pun) made it quite hilarious.
One thing that makes the book and film so unusual is that I have not encountered any literature that features smell as a... well... superpower. So it makes it pretty cool, and because everyone smells it makes it somewhat believable (at least while you're watching the movie/reading). A particular emphasis in the book is desire for smells, which I imagine is akin the feeling I get when I eat particularly yummy and creamy oysters or fresh fresh salmon sashimi or max brenner fondue chocolate... Mmmmmm... I just want more of it and to savour it...

That brought me to thinking about my favorite scents, which are that of the freesia, yummy cooking and a particular aftershave/men's perfume that is soooo attractive, but I'm not sure what it is... and very few guys use it (which is a really good thing otherwise I would be 'in love' a lot more often than I am :P)
There are lots of other nice smells as well, but these are ones that I can remember that if I ever catch the slightest scent of them I just want to suck in more of it. Mmmmmm...

Anyway, back to work... Hmm the new blogger doesn't let you preview your post...

Oh and of course,
GONG XI FATT CHOY!I feel rich...

Up, up, up and away!!

Isn't it a fascinating book? I've never read a book like Perfume before, Sueskind's so cynical and graphic, it's fabulous.

And I know what you mean about favourite scents, it's something which I realised last night actually. Phil wears a scent which I don't know the name of, but it's... intoxicating, I could smell it at the supermarket and even though I knew it was someone else wearing it, I was falling weak at the knees coz I could smell it and wanted more of it. Ok, I'll stop now.

Oh come on, I'm sick, I've been nauseous since Friday, I've been falling weak at the knees at the idea of chocolate let alone man scents... gah that reads horribly.
I suspect Jasmine's cooking caused this...

Hehe, not like I can talk - in first year I totally fell in love with some guy: He wasn't Christian(!!), not that intelligent, not witty, not playful, not good-looking (looking back at him) not a beach lover (not that I cared much then). But I thought he was totally hot 'cause he smelt sooo good :P.

After I got past that hurdle I decided it was high time I set up some criteria!

Happy Chinese New Year!

It's very true about scents, some smells (that have been cleverly caught by aftershave/deodorant companies) make men seem attractive, for no other reason than the smell... that's almost as creepy as the movie in a way... I feel manipulated!
